Armell M. Tchomtong Mahnig is a Swiss, born Cameroonian who grew up between an African, European and American culture in Switzerland. She was the only black kid in her neighborhood who (and) had to fight racism without losing her identity, pride, dreams, and humanity.
Growing up, Armell M. Tchomtong Mahnig wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, someone who would bring good to the world and change the world. She learned along the way – thanks to life – she couldn’t change the world, but she could do her part. In everything she has done, she has done it with all her heart because she was aware it was her playing her part. Armell was passionate about reading books, and her younger sister always pushed her to put her words down on the paper. Armell could be easily spotted as she was the girl carrying a book at all times. In 2018, Armell wrote her first story, which ended in 2020 when she started expecting. Unfortunately, the story never got published.
Armell was pushed to write a novel when she wanted to gift a novel to her nephew but couldn’t find a novel with a black child. So, she played her part.
“Even though I wrote the story in 2020, it took me an auto-immune disease diagnosis that paralyzed me for a certain time in 2021 with a prolonged sick leave to push me even closer to my dream, which you have now In front of your eyes.
I have signed my real name on the book to honor those who came before me and to honor my son and daughter. But, still, you can call me NINA because we are now part of one big family, and my family calls me like that, and it’s the name I use outside my professional life.
I am a friend and sister to many because love recognizes the many colors, religions, countries, and sexual orientation and fully embraces them all.”
